Eligibility:

Applicants must be at least 17 years old. All levels of proficiency in English, from beginning to advanced, to pre-university studies, are welcome to attend. Students are placed into classes according to proficiency levels.

Persons wishing to apply for admission to the Institute should complete and return the application, with a $400 deposit to the following address:

A $400 deposit, which is applied to the course fee, must be included with the application. Students must pay the balance for the tuition and the residence hall by the first day of the Institute by cash, US check or credit card.

If cancellation should become necessary, $350 of the deposit will be refunded provided notification of cancellation is received one month prior to the beginning of the Institute. After that date, no refund is possible.

Note to Applicants Who Require an I-20 Visa:

In order to receive the Form I-20 necessary to apply for an F-1 Student Visa to attend our institute, you must submit the Certificate of Financial Responsibility Application stating that you will have sufficient funds to support yourself during the Summer Institute in English. You must also sign and submit the Visa Clearance Form.

Applications received after May 1, 2004 will be accepted and processed, but those who apply late may find it difficult to secure the necessary visa for entry into the United States.

Important Note: Admission to North Carolina State University

Regular Session Admission to the Institute does not imply admission to the regular session at NC State University, or to any other branch of the University of North Carolina. Undergraduate students who wish to apply to NC State for the fall semester must make separate application to the:
